Item Description:
Fay is using this site to share with you the chapters of an unpublished book. It is called THE FORGOTTEN ONES and tells of a holiday she spent in Germany with her husband Eberhard, while he recounts his experiences between 1926 and 1950 when he immigrated to Australia. Fay illustrates her weekly posts with photographs of the regions they visited where Eberhard spent his childhood, his schooling years, his experiences as an teenage officer in the German infantry, his time as a Prisoner of War of the Americans and the strange twist that saw him become a cook in the American Occupation Forces before he retrained as a Carpenter and came to Australia in 1950 with a French construction company to build Housing Commission home in Brisbane.
