Australia crashing through the Doors of a Carbon Constrained World to find No Ones Home

Australia is crashing through the front doors of the great Carbon Constrained global economy, only to find that those already occupying the space are bolting for the back door.

“EUROPEAN Union member states are ready to grant car makers a three-year delay until 2015 to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of their new vehicles in light of the global economic crisis, negotiators said at the weekend.

During a meeting of representatives of the 27 nations, “a consensus was reached” on pushing back the original 2012 deadline to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, a negotiator said.”

At this rate Kevin Rudd is right on track to demonstrate why Australia is not thought of as a world leader. What world leader worth his salt would introduce a policy that will punish his countries economy during the worst global financial crisis in living memory?

Perhaps only one who believes it will look good on his Secretary General of the UN job application.

14 Million Reasons to be Outraged

image Penny Wong.

I am offended by the Rudd Government and more particularly Climate Change and Water Minister Penny Wong [ pictured ] spending $14 million dollars on climate change ads since July.

Back on the 1st of September we nominated these ads as worthy of our Bullshit Watch award.

In the article I stated that these ads are just blatant propaganda.

.

The Government has set aside almost $14 million for a four-month climate change campaign, which started in July and ends next month.

.

If the government is fair dinkum about tackling climate change why wasn’t this money put into alternative energy. It could have been spent on installing solar hotwater in 7,000 homes at a $2,000 rebate a home.

They could have invested it in developing an accurate, reliable and simple to use accounting methodology for soil carbon. It could have been used to lobby the UN to accept soil carbon sequestration or a myriad of other constructive ways to cut our CO2 emissions.

The other reason it is outrageous is because it would suggest that Minister Wong is being a hypocrite.

.

“When in opposition, Senator Wong, as Labor’s spokesperson on public accountability, repeatedly attacked the then Howard government for running government advertising before legislation has passed the parliament.”

.

There is nothing that turns us off a politician more than them being an obvious hypocrite.

Meet the shadowy Godfather of the Kyoto Treaty - Maurice Strong

You’d probably expect the ‘Godfather of the Kyoto Treaty” to be a world renown Climate Scientist. No, It is actually an elusive ’shadowy UN bereaucrat’ - Maurice Strong.

Claudia Rosset finally cuaght up with Strong who although he is a Canadian citizen, now lives in Beijing. Rosset writes in the New York Times.

The U.N.’s Man of Mystery

Is the godfather of the Kyoto treaty a public servant or a profiteer?

image Maurice Strong“Often described as an “international man of mystery,” Mr. Strong during his long, globe-trotting career has been one of the most influential architects of the opaque cross-border bureaucracy that is today’s United Nations.

He is probably best known as godfather of the U.N.’s 1997 Kyoto treaty, and as a former U.N. top adviser who in that same year received a check for almost $1 million, bankrolled by the U.N.-sanctioned regime of Saddam Hussein. (Mr. Strong told me that at the time he did not know the money came from Baghdad.)”

IPCC Scandalous Deception on Livestock Emissions Exposed

In what can only be described as a scandalous act of deception it has been revealed that the IPCC has grossly overstated global livestock emissions.

image of livestocks long ShadowThe FAO report, Livestock’s Long Shadow, [pictured] made public last year to world acclaim, states that livestock contributes 18 per cent of the global warming effect, even more than transport.

But buried in the report is the information that deforestation - mainly in the Amazonian rainforest - is included in that figure. Without it, livestock’s contribution falls to less than 12 per cent.

.

One of the report’s main authors, Pierre Gerber, a Food Agriculture Organization of the United Nations livestock policy officer, has been openly critical of IPCC Chairman Dr Rajendra Pachauri and others, saying they had misused the information in the report.

image Rajunda PachauriIf you recall, based on the report Dr Pachauri [pictured] an Indian Economist and Vegetarian has been campaigning for the world to eat less meat to fight global warming.

In Professor Ross Garnaut final report last week he devoted an entire section to cutting Australia’s livestock emissions, extensively quoting the trumped up 18% figure for Australia’s livestock emissions.

This is just another example of how the IPCC has distorted and misconstrue the science. Yet they still maintain credibility. This is the science that Kevin Rudd and his Labor team are relying on to set policy in Australia.

The emissions trading scheme Rudd intends to introduce in just 14 months time will cost ordinary Australians $5 billion dollars in Carbon Taxes in the first year. Based on this kind on dodgy representation of the science, it will be an abject disaster, particularly for Australian Agriculture.

NSW Rural Hospitals Can’t Pay Their Bills.

Patients in country hospitals are being served meatless meals because the NSW Health system is so broke they can’t pay their butchers bill.

.

image Kevin HumphriesNSW Nationals State MP for Barwon Kevin Humphries has stepped in and offered to pay the butchers bill out of his own pocket so patients at Gilgandra and Coonabarabran hospital and local Meals on Wheels recipients, can get some meat back onto their plates.

Mr Humphries said he was appalled when he found cooks at Gilgandra and Coonabarabran hospitals were forced to provide meatless meals.

“Our patients deserve better. It is a sad day when staff are forced to compromise patient care with a reduced and inadequate diet,” he said. “I have even heard stories of staff buying meat for their patients out of their own pockets.”

.

The NSW health Department is obviously completely broke. What a disgrace. Once again we see a long term Labor government hopelessly mismanaging the finances and ending up being virtually insolvent.

.

image John WilliamsMurray-Darling Nationals MP John Williams said he knew of several cases of unpaid bills from the western health service. One Broken Hill business was owed almost $2000 and another business in his electorate had been owed more than $12,000 since May.

It’s a bleeding ulcer for them - they are all suffering from the drought and they don’t need this,” Mr Williams said

.

Hang on didn’t the NSW government just purchase Toorale station at Bourke for $24 million in conjunction with the federal government. Clyde Agriculture should probably do an urgent check that the federal government is guaranteeing the payment.

.

“Greater Western Area Health is not the only one unable to pay suppliers. Yass air-conditioning mechanic Touie Smith said he is owed $18,386.50 by the Greater Southern Area Health Service for work at Yass and Goulburn hospitals.

.

Is the NSW Labor government insolvent or are they very short of money and just not paying their bills in rural and regional areas, hoping the media won’t notice.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd should cancel his trip to the UN and stay home to sort out the financial mess the NSW State Labor government has created. Who knows with the global financial crisis the state of New South Wales may be at the brink of bankruptcy ?

Do you think thats fanciful, who would have believed 2 weeks ago that the worlds oldest Merchant Bank Lehman Brothers would declare bankruptcy last Monday. I mean they have not got the money to pay a $2,000 butchers bill.

Kevin Rudd - That Would Be Courageous, Very Courageous

image Sir Humphrey ApplebyThe immortal words of BBC series Yes Minister ring true with Kevin Rudds unwaivering commitment to lead the world in the fight against global warming.

“That would be Courageous Minister, Very Courageous.”

According to Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd the most important challenge that Australia and indeed the world faces is global warming caused by man made carbon emissions.

But what if its not?

The issue is of such critical importance to the PM that during the last week’s ‘one in a centuary” global financial meltdown, the Australian PM seemed hopelessly out of touch with reality.

As the global financial system and indeed Capitalism teetered on the verge of destruction, the PM’s contribution was to announce the government was investing $100 million a year to make Australia the Hub of global climate change fighting technology. His other contribution was to announce a symposium of local government councilors.

As Senator Barnaby Joyce put it so well on yesterday -

.

image Barnaby Joyce“This guy [the PM] is getting completely disconnected from what’s going on and sooner or later he’s going to realise that the main game is actually in this nation, not some other nation.”

.

Indeed it is fair to say that the Kevin Rudd on the advice of his scientific adviser has staked his whole governments future on leading the world in the fight against global warming. But what if its not?

What if James Hansen and his global spokesperson Al Gore are really the two swindlers from the fairy tale The Emperors New Cloths?

Certainly research from the Space and Science Research Center (SSRC) which quotes itself on its web site as “the leading science and engineering research company internationally, that specializes in the analysis of and planning for climate changes based upon the “Theory of Relational Cycles of Solar Activity,” believes its not.

In July of this year John L. Casey, Director of the Space and Science Research Center, Orlando Florida, issued what he described as a landmark declaration on climate change.

.

“After an exhaustive review of a substantial body of climate research, and in conjunction with the obvious and compelling new evidence that exists, it is time that the world community acknowledges that the Earth has begun its next climate change.

In an opinion echoed by many scientists around the world, the Space and Science Research Center (SSRC), today declares that the world’s climate warming of the past decades has now come to an end. A new climate era has already started that is bringing predominantly colder global temperatures for many years into the future.

In some years this new climate will create dangerously cold weather with significant ill-effects world wide. Global warming is over - a new cold climate has begun.”

.

In the statement Professor Casey specifically mentions the difficulty in over coming the dogma of political and media consensus on global warming.

.

“I have consulted with colleagues world wide who have reached a similar conclusion. They have likewise been attempting to advise their own governments and media of the impending cold era and the difficult times that the extreme cold weather may bring.

They are to be commended for their bold public stances and publication of their research which of course has been in direct opposition to past conventional thought on the nature and causes of the last twenty years of global warming. “

.

Professor Phillip Stott in his article “Cogitative dissonance” details why the media and politician are having such difficulty with the world is not warming paradigm.

.

image Phillip StottHow can you talk of the climate ‘warming’ when, on the key measures, it isn’t? …. Such media behaviour exhibits a classic condition known as ‘cognitive dissonance’.

This is experienced when belief in a grand narrative persists blindly even when the facts in the real world begin to contradict what the narrative is saying.

Sadly, our media have come to have a vested interest in ‘global warming’, as have so many politicians and activists.

.

Casey Goes on:

.

Casey detailed the solar activity cycles that have been driving the Earth’s climate for the past 1,200 years. He condemned the climate change confusion and alarmism which has accompanied seven separate periods over the past 100 years, where scientists and the media flip-flopped on reporting that the Earth was either entering a new ‘ice age’ or headed for a global meltdown where melting glacial ice would swamp the planet’s coastal cities.

.

Casey also touches on the impacts of the onset of global cooling on Agriculture.

.

On the subject of cold climate effects on agriculture, Casey was not optimistic. “I can see,” he added, “just like the last time this 206 year cycle brought cold, that there will be substantial damage to the world’s agricultural systems.

This time however we will have eight billion mouths to feed during the worst years around 2031 compared to previously when we had only one billion. Yet even then, many died from the combined effects of bitter cold and lack of food.”

.

Casey called on all leaders to immediately move from the past global warming planning to prepare for the already started change to a cold climate.

.

“Now that the new cold climate has begun to arrive, we must immediately start the preparation, the adaptation process.

At least because of the RC Theory we now have some advance warning.

No longer do we need to wonder what the Earth’s next climate changes will be two or three generations out. But we must nonetheless be ready to adjust with our now more predictable solar cycles that are the primary determinants of climate on Earth.”

.

Now I’m not saying that John L Casey has got it right either. Readers should click on the links to his site and read the research. He certainly makes a compelling case and we will actually know if his research is ground breaking within the next 2 decades (as he predicts the planet will be 1-1.5 degrees C cooler between 2030 - 2040).

Certainly it is difficult to give the PM’s science adviser James Hansen any where near the credibility that Kevin Rudd does after his warming predictions to date have been wildly inaccurate / over stated and his promotion of the universally discredited Mann Hockey Stick theory.

image Kevin RuddIs Prime Minister Rudd racing to far ahead of the science on global warming? If he is, he is doing the Nation of Australia and its people an enormous disservice and will be remembered by history as a “fool”.

On the other hand if he has backed the right horse in James Hansen / Al Gores take on the science he will be viewed by history as a “great visionary” and will probably end up as head of the UN.

One thing is for certain - ‘ he is willing to put it all on the line, no each way bets for our PM and he won’t die wondering’.

As a great fan of the BBC series Yes Minister, Sir Humphrey Appleby words of wisdom ring true:

“That would be courageous, Minister, very courageous.”

Rudd Watch - It only costs $100m to star at the UN next week.

image of Kevin RuddHow transparent is Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd?

He heads off to a week long UN meeting on Monday, but rushing to make sure he has some great news to report to world leaders at the UN:

.

“KEVIN Rudd has summoned mining and industry chief executives, environmentalists and union leaders to Canberra this morning to unveil a $100 million clean coal research institute aimed at making Australia the world hub for the climate-change-fighting technology.”

.

Rudds science adviser, US Professor James Hansen will no doubt be pleased with his star recruit. Remember Hansen [pictured below] in his private letter to Rudd in March urged:

.

image James Hansen“Due to the dominant role of coal, solution to global warming must include phase-out of coal except for uses where the CO2 is captured and sequestered.

Your leadership in halting these plans COULD seed a transition that is needed to solve the global warming problem.

If Australia halted construction of coal-fired power plants that do not capture and sequester the CO2, it could be a tipping point for the world. There is still time to find that tipping point, but just barely.

I hope that you will give these considerations your attention in setting your national policies. You have the potential to influence the future of the planet.

If we continue to build coal-fired power plants without carbon capture, we will lock in future climate disasters associated with passing climate tipping points. We must solve the coal problem now.”

.

Oh James Hansen and the world leaders at next weeks UN summit will be so impressed with that bright young PM from ‘down under’.

.

“The Australian understands the Prime Minister will make the project the centrepiece of his efforts next week when he attends the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.”

.

Top of the class Kevin, Top of the class.

Meanwhile at home our pensioners live below the bread line, with the global credit crunch now forcing many of our 1.5 million self funded retirees onto the pension as superannuation funds returns are decimated. But hey lets face it theres no world kudos at swank UN meetings in looking after a few million old people, is there?

.

Have your say!

Can you believe how transparent Kevin Rudd is? Going to the UN with this announcement is like your 5 year old gazzumping the class at ’show and tell’ to wind up the star pupil of the class. And it only costs we the tax payer a mere $100 million for us to make Kevin the star pupil.

Rudd Watch - Turnbull demands the PM Cancel UN Trip

image of Kevin RuddOur globe trotting Prime Minister is winging his way to New York to spend the whole of next week helping the UN set its goals.

The PM has caught the ‘travel bug’ with this tax payer funded trip being Kevin Rudd’s second visit to the USA since taking office 10 months ago and the 16th country visited in that time.

The Federal Parliament is siting next week and the trip will mean that Kevin Rudd will miss the entire parliamentry week.

.

“Mr Rudd had more official engagements overseas in June, July and August than he did in Sydney, where he stays at Kirribilli House.

There were nine prime ministerial engagements in Sydney in those three months - two related to World Youth Day, four speeches, one book launch and two press conferences. But in the same period Mr Rudd had several engagements in Japan, Indonesia, Japan again, Malaysia, Beijing, South Korea, Singapore, Niue and New Zealand.”

.

New Liberal Leader Malcolm Turnbull, has wasted no time in calling the ‘wonder lust’ Prime Minister to order.

.

MALCOLM Turnbull last night demanded that Prime Minister Kevin Rudd fix the “financial ruin” of NSW rather than fly to New York next week.

Instead of going on yet another taxpayer-funded overseas trip next week, he should be spending a week in Sydney seeing what his political backers in Macquarie Street have done to the state. He should ride the trains that don’t run on time, and see the queues in public hospital casualty wards.

Instead of swanning around at the United Nations, Mr Rudd should be getting stuck into his NSW Labor mates and holding them to account.”

.

I’m certain that struggling Australian Pensioners would agree whole heartedly with Turnbull. Whilst Kevin Rudd freely admits that he could not live on a single pension, staying in Australia and doing anything to help our struggling seniors is not an option.

Spending a week in the Big Apple and addressing the UN is of a far higher priority to our globe trotting Prime Minister than the suffering of our senior citizens.

.

Have your say!

Do you think a week in Parliament finding a solution to the challenges Australians currently face is more important than spending a week in New York addressing the UN?

London Mayor Boris Johnson Roasts Vegetarian IPCC Chief

image of Boris JohnsonLondon’s conservative Mayor Boris Johnson has roasted IPCC cheif Dr Rjendra Pachauri over his campaigning for people worldwide to give up eating meat to save the world from Global Warming.

.

No, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, distinguished chairman of the panel, I am not going to have one meat-free day per week. No, I am not going to become a gradual vegetarian. In fact, the whole proposition is so irritating that I am almost minded to eat more meat in response.

Every weekend, rain or shine, I suggest that we flaunt our defiance of UN dietary recommendations with a series of vast Homeric barbecues.

We are going to have carnivorous festivals of chops and sausages and burgers and chitterlings and chine and offal, and the fat will run down our chins, and the dripping will blaze on the charcoal, and the smoky vapours will rise to the heavens.

We will call these meat feasts Pachauri days, in satirical homage to the tofu-chomping UN man who told the human race to go veggie.

Way to go Boris and you have won todays Agmates “Onya” award.

British Cattle Not to Blame For Global Warming.

Chairman of the UN’s IPCC Dr Rajendra Pachauri a committed vegan has called on the world to cut its meet consumption to stop global warming.

.

Dr Rajenda Pachauri [pictured] claims:

“That current global animal production is responsible for 18% of all human-induced greenhouse gas emissions - and the figure is set to double by 2050.”

.

British Cattle Producers have hit back at the Indian Global warming chief:

.

“BEEF farmers have launched a stinging attack on a climate change expert who will tonight urge consumers to abandon meat diets in favour of vegetarianism.

The UK’s National Beef Association (NBA) reacted to the speech with “disappointment, and a weary lack of surprise”.

NBA chairman Christopher Thomas-Everard said the 18% figure had long since been discredited since it was first “invented” in 2006 in a FOA report “Livestock’s Long Shadow”.

A third of the 18% was attributed in that report to the clearance of Amazonian rainforest, originally for cattle ranching and now, more commonly, for the growing of crops like soya. It was based on the peak 2004 figure of 26,000 sq km of rainforest burned.”

.

More fudged figures from the UN’s IPCC - now thats a surprise.
