Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is convinced the science on man made global warming is settled. In fact he’s so convinced that the science of the IPCC and NASA’s James Hansen is correct that his number 1 political priority is the introduction of an Emissions Trading Scheme by mid 2010.

The latest science shows that the IPCC’s Climate Change Modelling is grossly overstated..

Climate change may not be as severe as predicted, suggests an international study that shows current modelling of carbon dioxide emissions from soils are overestimated by as much as 20%.

The view, reported in the latest Nature Geoscience journal, is based on a study of Australian soils that finds the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) released by Australian soils is much lower than previously believed.

The finding has major implications for climate change predictions as annual carbon emissions from soils are estimated to be more than all human-made CO2 emissions combined.

The incredibly ironic thing is that one of the reports Co_Authors Dr Evelyn Krull [pictured] , is a scientist at the Australian governments own CSIRO Land and Water. Dr Krull goes on to say:

For Australia, a proportion of 20% charcoal in soils would lead to a 135 teragram (135 billion kilograms) overestimation on a continental scale.

“On an annual basis, an inflated prediction from topsoils alone equates to … 84% of CO2 emissions associated with aviation for Australia using values obtained for 2006,” the paper says.

Surprise, Surprise the research has found that climate change modelling is grossly overstated.

…this means that current scenarios predicted by climate change modeling “are making it look worse than it actually would be”.

This highlights the need for a global initiative to analyse soils worldwide for charcoal content so that modeling can be more accurate, she says.

Beautiful - the climate models are overstated. All the while Rajendra Pachauri, James Hansen, Al Gore, Tim Flannery, Don Henry , Barry Brook & Clive Hamilton of the alarmist cause try to tell us Global Warming is happening faster than the models actually predicted.

The science on man made global warming is settled. Yes right.

There are approximately 80,000 edible plants on the planet that are used for food. Of those there are only about 150 that are cultivated in any quanity, and just 8 are traded globally.

Today there are 6.9 billion people living on the planet. Of those there are approximately 800 million suffering from hunger and malnutrition. The planets population is expected to grow to 9 billion over the next four decades.

With our food production system not able to feed 6.9 billion how do we ever expect to be able to feed another 2 billion people with our current production practices, especially with the predicted impacts of climate change on Agriculture?

To date world leaders and the United Nations have failed to find a solution. Industrialized Agriculture and global Free Trade have failed the world poorest people miserably in this regard.

A historic meeting of farmers, traders, environmental & food activists at Terra Madre, Italy have been pondering these issues and the impacts of climate change on Agriculture and the outcome is surprising.

One of the keynote speakers at the meeting was Vandana Shiva. Shiva is world-renowned environmental leader, food-sovereignty activist and author and is a member of The International Commission on the Future of Food and Agriculture.

“Shiva [pictured] said climate treaties and discussions take place in the stratosphere — in congressional committees, exclusive global confabs peopled by CEOs of vast business empires, etc.

She said these people operate under an industrial paradigm, and the solutions they concoct to climate change — cap-and-trade mechanisms, GMO seeds, etc. — mimic and don’t challenge that paradigm.

But in the end, these attempts get nowhere. Real reform, Shiva insisted, will happen when discussions move from the stratosphere to the soil, and when we find new, non-industrial ways of thinking.

Shiva unveiled to the meeting the groups “Manifesto on Climate Change and Future of Food Security”

Tom Philpott [pictured below] food editor for Grist.com was at the meeting and writes:

“The document presents a powerful new vision for confronting climate change — one more potent even than Al Gore’s famed slides and push for trade-based solutions.

Where Gore dreams of a “low-carbon” or even “carbon-free” world, Shiva pines for a “carbon-rich” future —

one in which agriculture systematically builds organic matter into the soil, capturing it from the atmosphere.”

The Manifestos key concepts are:

• Ecological and organic farming contributes to mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
• Transition to local, sustainable food systems benefits the environment and public health.
• Biodiversity reduces vulnerability and increases resilience.
• Genetically modified seeds and breeds: a false solution and a dangerous diversion.
• Industrial agrofuels: a false solution and new threat to food security.
• Water conservation is central to sustainable agriculture.
• Knowledge transition for climate adaptation.
• Economic transition toward a sustainable and equitable food future

At the meeting Philpott writes that Shiva gave a brief history of the global sustainable-food movement’s involvement with the climate-change debate.

She said that in the ’90s, when discussions were going on around the Kyoto Treaty, there were simultaneous talks going on around a Biodiversity Treaty.

Unfortunately, sustainable food activists, including herself, were content to let climate talks go on without their input; they focused instead on the biodiversity talks.

As a result, she said, discourse around climate has almost completely ignored agriculture — even though industrial agriculture emits something like a third of greenhouse gases.

Ian Plimer [ pictured ] is Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences at The University of Melbourne and Professor of Mining Geology at The University of Adelaide.

Professor Plimer is about to launch his new book

“Emissions Trading - Why Bother?“.

Professor Plimer will be speaking at the launch of the book at the Sydney Mining Club on the 6th of November if any of you are about and would like to attend.

With the Rudd Government due to launch an emissions trading regime in just 14 months time, Professor Ian Plimer will present an array of arguments that contradict the Global Warming science put forward by the IPCC, Professor James Hansen and his global spokesman Al Gore.

Some of those arguments are:

• Planet Earth has form in producing Greenhouse gases - major form - particularly from volcanic eruptions.
• The quantity of solar radiation the Sun gushes at Earth each year also varies dramatically as flares and gravitational orbit wobbles change the amount of heat we intersect.
• There are also concerns that the way we measure temperature is skewed in favour of a warming Earth.
• Against the backdrop of geological time - and our inability to distinguish any anthropogenic affects -
• Not only has the Earth endowed us with great resource wealth but also with detailed tracers of the past. The rate and amount of modern climate change is well within past variability.
• The current rate of sea level rise is low, changing sea levels is normal, sea levels can over geological time change by up to 600 metres.
• The atmospheric CO2 content at present is the lowest for millions of years. CO2 levels have been up to 25 times higher than at present yet, during the history of the planet, CO2 has not created acid oceans.
• Natural processes capture and store CO2. Planet Earth is a warm, wet greenhouse planet that has had ice for only 20% of geological time.
• Extinction of life on Earth is normal and life is most commonly stressed by cold climates.
• Temperature is buffered by the water cycle.
• Supernova eruptions, the Sun, the Earth’s orbit, tectonics and the water cycle are the primary drivers of climate.
• In the past, CO2 changes have followed temperature changes.

Against the backdrop of these scientific arguments Plimer poses the very sensible question, and one that Agmates has been asking: “Kevin Rudds $5 Billion Mug Punt”

“Why punt severe impact to Australia’s economy, and most notably the well-being of its buoyant primary producers, by volunteering the nation as a pioneer in the emissions trading concept.”

Yesterday I posted China Overtakes the USA at No1 Global CO2 Emitter. That article attracted a fair amount of comment.

Australia emits just 1.3% of global emissions while the 4 major global emitters China, USA, Russia & India account for 42.5% of global emissions. Unless the major emitters adopt their own ETS , Australia doing so is a psychotic exercise in self harm.

A report in yesterdays Sydney Morning Herald is indicative of the spin and the tangled web of deceit run by the climate mafia. The report reveals that Dr Michael Raupach [ pictured], a CSIRO scientist is a co-chair of the Global Carbon Project which produced the report.

Then surprise surprise who bobs up to comment but Dr Barry Brook, director of the Research Institute for Climate Change and Sustainability.

A letter Dr James Hansen ( pictured below who is Al Gore’s science adviser) wrote privately to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd back in March revealed that Prime Minister Rudd is a Hansen disciple and much more:

“I commend to you the following Australian climate, paleoclimate and Earth scientists to provide further elaboration of the science reported in my attached paper (Hansen et al., 2008):”

On the top of the list of 7 Australian Scientists that Hansen recommended to Kevin Rudd is none other than Professor Barry Brook and Dr Michael Raupach, CSIRO.

He’s what Barry [pictured below] had to say about the report:

“If you look at current government policy, then it doesn’t add up anyway, even before these figures,” he said.

“Cutting our emissions by 60 per cent by 2050 won’t do it, because we are already such high emitters per capita.

It has to be more like 90 per cent.”

Did you get that - Brook calling for a 90% cut in Australian Emissions. That would be the ultimate exercise in national psychotic self harm.

This is the science that PM Kevin Rudd is being guided by. James Hansen is Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s scientific adviser on Climate Change and Professors Barry Brook and Michael Raupach of the CSIRO are Hansen’s field Lieutenants.

Al Gore has had enough of US politicians not taking him seriously. In April this year he pledged an all out media blitz on US politicians in the lead up to the US presidential election.

“During the next three years, his Alliance for Climate Protection plans to spend US$300m on television advertising and online organising to make global warming among the most urgent issues for elected American leaders.”

A Gallup poll released on the 16th of September shows how well the AWG champ is doing. Basically he’s a chump in his own country.

Voters were asked the question:

What would you say are the one or two most important reasons you would vote for [ preferred candidate].

.

Out of 25 reasons polled - Want Change / Fresh Approach topped at 22% .

Equal last on this list was Environment / Global Warming at 1%.

In fact even no reason in particular came in above it at 2%.

Does not seem to matter how much money you throw at it, Your Never a Prophet in your home town. Or is it that the US public just know him and his science adviser James Hansen a lot better than we in the rest of the world do.

Remember the USA has not even signed the Kyoto protocol.

The immortal words of BBC series Yes Minister ring true with Kevin Rudds unwaivering commitment to lead the world in the fight against global warming.

“That would be Courageous Minister, Very Courageous.”

According to Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd the most important challenge that Australia and indeed the world faces is global warming caused by man made carbon emissions.

But what if its not?

The issue is of such critical importance to the PM that during the last week’s ‘one in a centuary” global financial meltdown, the Australian PM seemed hopelessly out of touch with reality.

As the global financial system and indeed Capitalism teetered on the verge of destruction, the PM’s contribution was to announce the government was investing $100 million a year to make Australia the Hub of global climate change fighting technology. His other contribution was to announce a symposium of local government councilors.

As Senator Barnaby Joyce put it so well on yesterday -

“This guy [the PM] is getting completely disconnected from what’s going on and sooner or later he’s going to realise that the main game is actually in this nation, not some other nation.”

Indeed it is fair to say that the Kevin Rudd on the advice of his scientific adviser has staked his whole governments future on leading the world in the fight against global warming. But what if its not?

What if James Hansen and his global spokesperson Al Gore are really the two swindlers from the fairy tale The Emperors New Cloths?

Certainly research from the Space and Science Research Center (SSRC) which quotes itself on its web site as “the leading science and engineering research company internationally, that specializes in the analysis of and planning for climate changes based upon the “Theory of Relational Cycles of Solar Activity,” believes its not.

In July of this year John L. Casey, Director of the Space and Science Research Center, Orlando Florida, issued what he described as a landmark declaration on climate change.

“After an exhaustive review of a substantial body of climate research, and in conjunction with the obvious and compelling new evidence that exists, it is time that the world community acknowledges that the Earth has begun its next climate change.

In an opinion echoed by many scientists around the world, the Space and Science Research Center (SSRC), today declares that the world’s climate warming of the past decades has now come to an end. A new climate era has already started that is bringing predominantly colder global temperatures for many years into the future.

In some years this new climate will create dangerously cold weather with significant ill-effects world wide. Global warming is over - a new cold climate has begun.”

In the statement Professor Casey specifically mentions the difficulty in over coming the dogma of political and media consensus on global warming.

“I have consulted with colleagues world wide who have reached a similar conclusion. They have likewise been attempting to advise their own governments and media of the impending cold era and the difficult times that the extreme cold weather may bring.

They are to be commended for their bold public stances and publication of their research which of course has been in direct opposition to past conventional thought on the nature and causes of the last twenty years of global warming. “

Professor Phillip Stott in his article “Cogitative dissonance” details why the media and politician are having such difficulty with the world is not warming paradigm.

How can you talk of the climate ‘warming’ when, on the key measures, it isn’t? …. Such media behaviour exhibits a classic condition known as ‘cognitive dissonance’.

This is experienced when belief in a grand narrative persists blindly even when the facts in the real world begin to contradict what the narrative is saying.

Sadly, our media have come to have a vested interest in ‘global warming’, as have so many politicians and activists.

Casey Goes on:

Casey detailed the solar activity cycles that have been driving the Earth’s climate for the past 1,200 years. He condemned the climate change confusion and alarmism which has accompanied seven separate periods over the past 100 years, where scientists and the media flip-flopped on reporting that the Earth was either entering a new ‘ice age’ or headed for a global meltdown where melting glacial ice would swamp the planet’s coastal cities.

Casey also touches on the impacts of the onset of global cooling on Agriculture.

.

On the subject of cold climate effects on agriculture, Casey was not optimistic. “I can see,” he added, “just like the last time this 206 year cycle brought cold, that there will be substantial damage to the world’s agricultural systems.

This time however we will have eight billion mouths to feed during the worst years around 2031 compared to previously when we had only one billion. Yet even then, many died from the combined effects of bitter cold and lack of food.”

Casey called on all leaders to immediately move from the past global warming planning to prepare for the already started change to a cold climate.

.

“Now that the new cold climate has begun to arrive, we must immediately start the preparation, the adaptation process.

At least because of the RC Theory we now have some advance warning.

No longer do we need to wonder what the Earth’s next climate changes will be two or three generations out. But we must nonetheless be ready to adjust with our now more predictable solar cycles that are the primary determinants of climate on Earth.”

Now I’m not saying that John L Casey has got it right either. Readers should click on the links to his site and read the research. He certainly makes a compelling case and we will actually know if his research is ground breaking within the next 2 decades (as he predicts the planet will be 1-1.5 degrees C cooler between 2030 - 2040).

Certainly it is difficult to give the PM’s science adviser James Hansen any where near the credibility that Kevin Rudd does after his warming predictions to date have been wildly inaccurate / over stated and his promotion of the universally discredited Mann Hockey Stick theory.

Is Prime Minister Rudd racing to far ahead of the science on global warming? If he is, he is doing the Nation of Australia and its people an enormous disservice and will be remembered by history as a “fool”.

On the other hand if he has backed the right horse in James Hansen / Al Gores take on the science he will be viewed by history as a “great visionary” and will probably end up as head of the UN.

One thing is for certain - ‘ he is willing to put it all on the line, no each way bets for our PM and he won’t die wondering’.

As a great fan of the BBC series Yes Minister, Sir Humphrey Appleby words of wisdom ring true:

“That would be courageous, Minister, very courageous.”

An emperor (Kevin Rudd pictured above) who cares too much about clothes ( the glory of saving the world from Human induced Global warming) hires two swindlers (James Hansen and Al Gore ) who promise him the finest suit of clothes from the most beautiful cloth (prestige of leading the world to a Carbon Reduced future).

This cloth (saving the world from carbon Induced Warming), they tell him, is invisible to anyone who was either stupid or unfit for his position.

The Emperor cannot see the (non-existent) cloth, but pretends that he can for fear of appearing stupid; his ministers (Wong, Garrett & Co) do the same.

When the swindlers report that the suit is finished ( National Emissions Trading Scheme), they dress him in mime. The Emperor then goes on a procession through the capital showing off his new “clothes”.

During the course of the procession, a small child (60 Minutes) cries out, “But he has nothing on!” The crowd realizes the child is telling the truth. The Emperor, however, holds his head high and continues the procession (until the crowd gets to vote on his stupidity at the next election).

Have you ever noticed that the champions of global warming are not scientists. Al Gore (ex politician), Nicholas Stern (economist), Ross Garnaut (economist) Kevin Rudd (diplomat / politician).

Oh it’s it a fact that 2,500 ICCP scientist have formed a consensus that humans are causing global warming. However Arthur B. Robinson, president and professor of chemistry at the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, is one of 31,000 scientists who have signed a petition to disagree. Click on link to read the whole article.

“Robinson said that in recent years the U.N. and a group of 600 scientists, representing less than one percent of the scientific population, reached a “consensus” that global warming is happening. This has never been done before, Robinson insists.

Dennis Avery, Director for the Center of Global Food Issues at the Hudson Institute, agrees with Robinson. “Nobody can do science by a committee. You do science by testing,” said Avery. “To me it is appalling that an international organization of the stature of the U.N. would ignore the evidence of past climate changing.”

The signers of Robinson’s petition, including 9,000 Ph.Ds, all have one thing in common. They believe that human rights are being taken away.

Thats an interesting proposition and one that Australian Farmers have already experienced first hand.

Arthur Herman a historian and author in a great article in todays Australian agrees:

“IT has been a tough year for the high priests of global warming in the US. First, NASA had to correct its earlier claim that the hottest year on record in the contiguous US had been 1998, which seemed to prove that global warming was on the march. It was actually 1934. Then it turned out the world’s oceans have been growing steadily cooler, not hotter, since 2003. Meanwhile, the winter of 2007 was the coldest in the US in decades, after Al Gore warned us that we were about to see the end of winter as we know it.

Yet believers in man-made global warming demand more and more money to combat climate change and still more drastic changes in our economic output and lifestyle.

The reason is that precisely that they are believers, not scientists. No amount of empirical evidence will overturn what has become not a scientific theory but a form of religion.

Of Superstition and Enthusiasm, describes how even in civilised societies the mind of man is subject to certain unaccountable terrors and apprehensions when real worries are missing.

As these enemies are entirely invisible and unknown, like today’s greenhouse gases, people try to propitiate them by ceremonies, observations, mortifications, sacrifices such as Earth Day and banning plastic bags and petrol-driven lawnmowers.

Fear and ignorance, Hume concludes, are the true source of superstition. They lead a blind and terrified public to embrace any practice, however absurd or frivolous, which either folly or knavery recommends.”

Now think about the Australian farmers who have had their property rights taken from them with the tree clearing bans so Australia could meet its Kyoto obligations, without a cent of compensation!

Both articles go into detail how human rights will be sacrificed to the alter of the climate change religion. Well worth a read. It will make you THINK.
