Thanks Matt,
Sorry I can't comment on why Evans changed his viewpoint on the issue and probably never will.
The best I can do is put together some balanced articles for Agmates and try and educate all the readers viewing this website.
The important issue is that their is informed debate about a carbon trading scheme and the science it is based on. An advertising capmpaign that only pushes one side of the story is not good enough on this issue. Australia should have had a long informed debate on global warming before we signed the Kyoto protocl, the issue is just too important to be just a political issue.
The science relating to the subject is inexact at best. The cause of Climate Change is based on inexact science and the issue of whether the global temperature moved first, followed by carbon dioxide and methane level increases in the atmosphere, or the reverse, is like the preverbial chicken and egg issue. My bet is both have occurred and they feed each other. The problem is that I don't believe man can halt the change (whether positive or negative) in view that the earth has experienced these hot periods and ice ages historically.
If climate change is based on inexact science and climate models, any carbon trading scheme will be flawed, inequitable and another burden on Australia's economy. However I also believe that we should curtail the greed and consumerism that drives our world closer to catastrophy
The first of the articles I'll do for the Agmates website will be on the issue of methane, seeing that this gas has become a real issue for farmers breeding cattle.

Guys this guy is a snake oil salesman. Clinging to one bit of pseudo science to try and set the whole debate back a good few years.

Think about it - the Howard government did NOTHING for 10 years on climate change, except fudge the data on land clearing emissions.... now surprise surprise this Evans character leaves the AGO just when the new government is getting serious about climate change, because he knows that he can make a quid and get himself in the media by becoming a "sceptic".

I'm not religious, but I bet most christians know a fair few people who used to believe and now don't... would that make you give up your faith?

Minister and his Government?

Well, Will someone please ask this Idiot (WHO IS HIS GOVERNMENT), and I do hope for his sake he says us, for if he does not, he can ask his other Government to vote his Idiot self back in, for we the people are the Government.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE, THE REAL AND "ONLY GOVERNMENT" IN OUR FEDERAL COMMONWEALTH COUNTRY CALLED AUSTARLIA
AND UNDER THE ONLY LAWS TO BE UP HELD BY OUR CONSTITUTION AND NOT BY SOMEOTHER GOVERNMENT WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME

Hi Mick,

We are a one truck owner driver and even though this shut down will hit us hard we are behind it 100%.

We are also in the process of pulling out of the TWU after watching Hughie condemn the ALDODA and what they are trying to do.

One thing we do need is more information on where things are happening and when.

WELL DONE, GO FOR IT

We are just a one truck company and like all others are sick of how the gov't & big company's treat the truckies.

Our driver (son in-law) reports that a large amount of drivers he has spoken to are about to resign from the union because they have had enough of Hughie Willams.

The comment made by the Canberra bureaucrat shows exactly how he considers that truckies are nothing but dirt to be trodden on and its Ok to rip them off.

WE MIGHT BE SMALL, BUT WE'LL BE PARKING UP
AUSTRALIA NEEDS THE TRUCKIES.

Scientists in Argentina have reported that the earth is cooling and has been from around 2000. In their article they stated that their findings would not be popular with some people.

How is it that politicians, rabid conservationists and the many 'alarmists' choose to close their minds to such facts.

While driving around 10pm on Tuesday night (22/7/08) I heard Professor Ian Lowe (Australian Conservation Foundation) discussing carbon emissions on a radio broadcast. He stated that cattle were the greatest carbon emitters and the sooner they were got rid of, the better it would be for global warming and people's health!

It is fair and reasonable to expect that someone in his position would at least have the intelligence and decency to assess new facts on such important issues, instead he betrays the general publics trust by espousing such narrow personal views.

Unfortunately he is only one of many whose mind is closed.

The Rudd Government's campaign is designed to stampede people into accepting draconian steps without looking at recent data that points more towards global cooling than global warming.

Such a shame that too often egos get in the way when making such vital decisions and we see such vast amounts of money going to the wrong cause.

There is no infighting .

You have three groups of people representing the transport industry . One group is only going after issues that effect them and a select section of the transport industry .

The other two groups are trying to get many issues addresses and if you would like a copy of the issues please phone me or email me and I will send them to you . jamfig@austarnet.com.au . Ph 07 41 24 88 99 .

We have told the police that their will be no blockage of roads and we have asked all drivers to just go home and take a holiday . Spend some time with their wives and kids .

We have also asked that they help people like meals on wheels and Lions to make sure that none of our elderly people are affected by the action being taken by transport operators.

Many thanks

I am supporting the shutdown but I also support the ALDODA trying to get things done especially for the owner driver.

We are only going to get one go at this & it needs to be done properly (which it seems to be).

The last thing we need is two different organisations trying to achieve the same things working against each other.

Wont now come out in support of the transport workers and wont condemn their action .

A bit short on two vital appendages I think.
