Why Agmates?
Frustrated by the Multi-billion dollar Fairfax Media / Rural Press strangle hold over what rural & regional people read & see I launched Agmates as an online rural & regional news & commentary blog site in January 2006.
Our Agmates AgNews is independent & free news and commentary written by rural people-for-rural people. Agmates AgNews allows farmers & people living in rural & regional areas to have their say.
Membership growth has been by referral only. We did try advertising with Rural Press News Papers but after just 3 weeks of paid advertising we were ‘banned’ by their management. I was told ‘ management has decided we will no longer accept Agmates advertising as we see you as competition’.
Our growth has been by word of mouth as our loyal members phone & email their friends, inviting them to join us in the community. If your not a member yet, please accept this a personal invitation from me to join us in our online community.
