Yes we will need the ANZAC spirit to survive against overwhelming odds.

How did the CIA “hate campaign” become linked to Anzac day?

Anzac day is a time to remember the brave young men who joined the army to fight not because they got subsidised housing and medical benefits and their uni fees paid but because they were aussies and proud of it. (and their number was called)

These young men some of them as young as fifteen (those that lied about their age as they were too young) put their lives on the line to fight for what they believed in. They overcame incredible odds and showed the world who Australians were.

We still have that spirit and ability deep in the Australian heart and we see it every day with people battling illness, drought, isolation and other impediments. When many would turn their backs because the soil is too poor or the rain not regular or the distance too far Australians continue on.

While I dont doubt there are nasty people out there in high places and positions of power. I dont see the point in linking that topic to the Anzacs memorial.

I think we should use the Anzac memorial as a time to remember the brave Australians who gave so much and to look within ourselves in search of the traditional Aussie courage so we can solve the problems we can actually see and do something about.

Lets not mar the ANZAC memory with scaremongering and conspriracy theories about who really runs the world.

A very young looking Australian soldier said from Afganistan tonight on ABC that ANZAC day is their very special day of the year and Australian mateship is stronger than religion for them .

Australians particularly farmers will need the Anzac spirit being mateship , honour and triumph against overwhelming odds to prevail over forces within and outside our country who wish to do away with our sovereignty. It is our duty to resist the tyranny of globalization and global governance being put on us by the IMF, the World Bank, the United Nations and the WTO .

“This song has been clamed by some to be a Vietnam-era anti war song written by a Scottish-Australian singer songwriter named Eric Bogle. He wrote it in 1971.

It has been claimed by some that Erick bogle used the Gallipoli campaign in 1915 as a metaphor for the Vietnam war. However others claim, and rightly so that it is a song to honor the many Australians who died in the war.

One commenter from Australia made the following comment:

“Australia was not involved at all in the landings at suvla bay-Bogle stated he used that because it was more well known than ANZAC cove, and that it was better for rhyming. The landings at Suvla bay were performed by the British and were unnopposed. Second uve said 55,000 aussies died at gallipoli. Around 55,000 aussies died alltogther in ww1, 8,000 died at Gallipoli”.

Those who served in WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam and then the new wars Iraq and Afganistan are remembered .

In WW1 and 2 and Vietnam many men could not wait to get there, it was an adventure – they certainly did not question the Empire. No questions – even fathers would say to their son’s ‘ It’ll make a man out of you’ – Dad was proud and ecouraged their son’s to do their bit , Mum probably had a tear in her eye.
That is how they thought – Empire was everything , serving and sacrifice was duty. You might even get a medal for being outstanding.
Many historians trace the rise of Australian nationalism to the Gallipoli
campaign.

Australian mateship was forged from that time.

Aspects and histories of all these wars may be re-written when the older generation has passed.

Its a wonderful thing to have mateship between men and it is great thing but gaining it in war against the ‘enemy’ or these days ‘terrorist’ needs to be questioned.</div>

Just got back from the ANZAC dawn service at Tathra. There are more people every year and this year we would have had about 80 people. Not bad for a little town !
We all enjoyed the company, the ANZAC biscuits and the nip of port with our open fire brewed billy tea. Our minute of silent rememberance was held beside our genuine “Lone Pine” and as the bugle played, the half masted flag started to gently flutter. As we faced to the East and watched the sun rising over the ocean and the flag rustling behind us we knew we were not alone.
