Optus/Singtel consortium?(Singtel = Singapore Telecom) – Yes that would be right Jeff – Conroy wouldn’t like a national corporation controlling broadband – it would have to be international – Conroy and his government HATE any form of nationalism – that is why they ridicule Barnaby and the National Party.

Doesn’t the situation of reducing Telstra’s coverage in Australia open up the field to the Optus/Singtel consortium?(Singtel = Singapore Telecom)
Rural and regional high speed broadband was only another impost for this city-centred government.
Result anyway is another Rudd Government pre-election promise being broken.

Why would Conroy rule Telstra out??

What is Conroy up to ruling out Telstra from the broadband roll out across Australia. Because so many Australians are still with Telstra is it because he wants to reduce Telstra’s power. Has it got something to do with the Conroys great wish to bring in widespread internet censorship. Something smells to high heaven!!

Hi Margaret.
No Government conspiracy this time. Telstra lodged a non-complying bid which the Government was obliged to either reject or suffer the litigious consequences from the other bidders.
Just why Telstra thumbed their nose at the process remains to be seen !
It wouldn’t have been arrogance would it ?
No I thought not.
(ps. Don’t listen to the claims that the non-compliance was “trivial”. ANY non-compliance would/will result in massive legal action by the other tenderers and the Government can’t afford that at the moment. )
