Todays Music Video is inspired by Senator Ron Boswells article written on the Governments pledge to move ahead with the carbon pollution reduction scheme.
I hope the Doobie Brothers will forgive me for using their song “What a Fool Believes” as a political satire, but it and the film clip are perfect.
As you watch the Video, think about the fact that Senator Boswell and a ground swell of eminent people are saying pressing ahead with the carbon-tax is very foolish.
Then see the Guy in the Video as Prime Minister Kevin Rudd & the Girl as Climate Change Minister Penny Wong. Think about their blind, wild romance with the whole global warming thesis and their planned introduction of the ETS that is plunging Australia headlong into a carbon constrained economy -- dreaming that if they lead the way and the rest of the world will follow.

(Kevin, reminds Penny Wong of a bold and brash idealistic student leader she knew in her Uni days)
The sentimental fool didn’t see

(Kevin the poor bare foot boy from the Nambour dairy farm, dreaming of establishing himself as a world leader and statesman by leading Australia in creating a carbon constrained economy as a shinning example to the world)
Once in her life
She musters a smile
For his nostalgic tale.
(Penny Wong does not smile much. But Kevin makes her smile with his tale of how they both will go down in history as visionary leaders)
Never coming near
What he wanted to say
Only to realize
It never really was
(Kevin Rudd’s Global warming rhetoric has gone so far that he can’t get off the ETS train even after 10 years of global cooling “Only to realize, it never really was” man made global warming -- that is.)
She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice.
(Penny is Kevin’s Climate Change Minister and she never doubts the glorious vision he has for their actions and achievements.)
As she rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
(Anybody who looked at the situation objectively that is)
He’s watching her go
What a fool believes he sees
(Rudd and Penny believe they are being world leaders, saving the planet, going were other leaders fear to tread)
No wise man has the power

(So convinced are they, that no amount of logic, science or the consequences will sway them)
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
(because if they are not saving the planet, whats left -- just working on providing sound and responsible government -- how mundane)

(If Kevin’s not boldly leading the world in fighting climate change and jetting off to a UN meeting, he’s left bored in parliament. His mind drifts back to “somewhere back in his long ago” his days as a poor barefoot child on the dairy farm at Nambour and he quickly has to come up with another plan to make his mark on the global stage and secure his place in history.)
