Western Australian is the most trade exposed state of Australia and according to Liberal Treasurer Troy ( the chair sniffer ) Buswell [pictured] says that the Emissions Trading Scheme will have ‘untold implications’ for Western Australian Jobs and families.
.
“WESTERN Australia’s Government says Kevin Rudd’s emissions trading scheme is a “half-baked” plan that threatens the state’s economy.
“Rather than reducing greenhouse, the outcome from imposing a half-baked scheme in Australia could in fact be a rise in overall global emissions should industries move away to locations with fewer environmental rules and lower costs,” he said.
.
The WA government is not calling for the plan to be axed completely. He wants it properly thought out before implementation.
The recent Government Bank guarantee fiasco shows that legislation hurriedly introduced without considering all of the implications can have disastrous effects on sections of our community. Introducing a carbon reduction scheme without making similar studies of the ‘knock on’ effects would be equally disastrous.
Some of the nations leading economists have already predicted that the scheme in its current form will have disastrous implications for rural and regional Australians.
