Dr Christine Jones - Sequestering Carbon in Australian Soils - Video of the day

This is part 1 in a 5 part information and education series on biosequestration of carbon in Soil.

The presenter is Dr Christine Jones who is an internationally renowned and highly respected groundcover and soils ecologist.

Dr Jones has a wealth of experience working with innovative landholders to implement regenerative land management techniques that enhance biodiversity, increase biological activity, sequester carbon, activate soil nutrient cycles, restore water balance, improve productivity and create new topsoil.

This video is the first of a 5 part series covering the Keynote presentation that she gave at the 2008 Queensland Landcare Conference just last month at Monto .

We’ll run the rest of this series over the next week.

.

(thanks to Agmates readers, Ian & Oscar Pearce of AgForce and Beryl and Cec Bleys of Monto who filmed the presentation.)

G’day Dean,

Thanks for that. Sorry that I did not acknowledge you guys as the maker of the video.

Have had a look at your blog - and found it very interesting. Recommend anybody interested in technology (and other cool stuff) to click through and have a look.

Will talk to you.

Cheers - Steve :)

was at this conference, saw her keynote seminar.
get the feeling that the main reason this topic has been ‘debunked’ by the main science/politics to date, is that accepting the suggested ideas and figures would open up a whole minefield that the govt etc might not be able to govern when it comes to directing/controlling carbon trading. pity if this is the case - because what could be good environmental and farming advancements are being hampered by vested interests in economics/control of primary production in aust???

recommend readers take some time to view this topic :-)

PS - though a fair bit of talk relates to CO2 sequestration and global warming etc, it really has a lot of useful info directly for management and improvement of arable land in australia.
And how’s the figure of $millions for geosequestration already being spent for LaTrobe valley powerstations - who pays for that I wonder? I can think of better ways to spend that amount of money!
