The immortal words of BBC series Yes Minister ring true with Kevin Rudds unwaivering commitment to lead the world in the fight against global warming.
“That would be Courageous Minister, Very Courageous.”
According to Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd the most important challenge that Australia and indeed the world faces is global warming caused by man made carbon emissions.
But what if its not?
The issue is of such critical importance to the PM that during the last week’s ‘one in a centuary” global financial meltdown, the Australian PM seemed hopelessly out of touch with reality.
As the global financial system and indeed Capitalism teetered on the verge of destruction, the PM’s contribution was to announce the government was investing $100 million a year to make Australia the Hub of global climate change fighting technology. His other contribution was to announce a symposium of local government councilors.
As Senator Barnaby Joyce put it so well on yesterday -
.
“This guy [the PM] is getting completely disconnected from what’s going on and sooner or later he’s going to realise that the main game is actually in this nation, not some other nation.”
.
Indeed it is fair to say that the Kevin Rudd on the advice of his scientific adviser has staked his whole governments future on leading the world in the fight against global warming. But what if its not?
What if James Hansen and his global spokesperson Al Gore are really the two swindlers from the fairy tale The Emperors New Cloths?
Certainly research from the Space and Science Research Center (SSRC) which quotes itself on its web site as “the leading science and engineering research company internationally, that specializes in the analysis of and planning for climate changes based upon the “Theory of Relational Cycles of Solar Activity,” believes its not.
In July of this year John L. Casey, Director of the Space and Science Research Center, Orlando Florida, issued what he described as a landmark declaration on climate change.
.
“After an exhaustive review of a substantial body of climate research, and in conjunction with the obvious and compelling new evidence that exists, it is time that the world community acknowledges that the Earth has begun its next climate change.
In an opinion echoed by many scientists around the world, the Space and Science Research Center (SSRC), today declares that the world’s climate warming of the past decades has now come to an end. A new climate era has already started that is bringing predominantly colder global temperatures for many years into the future.
In some years this new climate will create dangerously cold weather with significant ill-effects world wide. Global warming is over - a new cold climate has begun.”
.
In the statement Professor Casey specifically mentions the difficulty in over coming the dogma of political and media consensus on global warming.
.
“I have consulted with colleagues world wide who have reached a similar conclusion. They have likewise been attempting to advise their own governments and media of the impending cold era and the difficult times that the extreme cold weather may bring.
They are to be commended for their bold public stances and publication of their research which of course has been in direct opposition to past conventional thought on the nature and causes of the last twenty years of global warming. “
.
Professor Phillip Stott in his article “Cogitative dissonance” details why the media and politician are having such difficulty with the world is not warming paradigm.
.
How can you talk of the climate ‘warming’ when, on the key measures, it isn’t? …. Such media behaviour exhibits a classic condition known as ‘cognitive dissonance’.
This is experienced when belief in a grand narrative persists blindly even when the facts in the real world begin to contradict what the narrative is saying.
Sadly, our media have come to have a vested interest in ‘global warming’, as have so many politicians and activists.
.
Casey Goes on:
.
Casey detailed the solar activity cycles that have been driving the Earth’s climate for the past 1,200 years. He condemned the climate change confusion and alarmism which has accompanied seven separate periods over the past 100 years, where scientists and the media flip-flopped on reporting that the Earth was either entering a new ‘ice age’ or headed for a global meltdown where melting glacial ice would swamp the planet’s coastal cities.
.
Casey also touches on the impacts of the onset of global cooling on Agriculture.
.
On the subject of cold climate effects on agriculture, Casey was not optimistic. “I can see,” he added, “just like the last time this 206 year cycle brought cold, that there will be substantial damage to the world’s agricultural systems.
This time however we will have eight billion mouths to feed during the worst years around 2031 compared to previously when we had only one billion. Yet even then, many died from the combined effects of bitter cold and lack of food.”
.
Casey called on all leaders to immediately move from the past global warming planning to prepare for the already started change to a cold climate.
.
“Now that the new cold climate has begun to arrive, we must immediately start the preparation, the adaptation process.
At least because of the RC Theory we now have some advance warning.
No longer do we need to wonder what the Earth’s next climate changes will be two or three generations out. But we must nonetheless be ready to adjust with our now more predictable solar cycles that are the primary determinants of climate on Earth.”
.
Now I’m not saying that John L Casey has got it right either. Readers should click on the links to his site and read the research. He certainly makes a compelling case and we will actually know if his research is ground breaking within the next 2 decades (as he predicts the planet will be 1-1.5 degrees C cooler between 2030 - 2040).
Certainly it is difficult to give the PM’s science adviser James Hansen any where near the credibility that Kevin Rudd does after his warming predictions to date have been wildly inaccurate / over stated and his promotion of the universally discredited Mann Hockey Stick theory.
Is Prime Minister Rudd racing to far ahead of the science on global warming? If he is, he is doing the Nation of Australia and its people an enormous disservice and will be remembered by history as a “fool”.
On the other hand if he has backed the right horse in James Hansen / Al Gores take on the science he will be viewed by history as a “great visionary” and will probably end up as head of the UN.
One thing is for certain - ‘ he is willing to put it all on the line, no each way bets for our PM and he won’t die wondering’.
As a great fan of the BBC series Yes Minister, Sir Humphrey Appleby words of wisdom ring true:
“That would be courageous, Minister, very courageous.”

Steve, you know I enjoy your counter-opinion on global warming… but I really think you need to check your sources more… I note you covered your ass by saying “Now I’m not saying that John L Casey has got it right either.”
Here is a skiing forum trying to figure out who he is… and even the skeptics seem to agree he has “no credibility”
They don’t even seem to have a Wiki entry… in fact the only real google results are his own website, and then people scratching their heads wondering who he is… and again skeptics and believers alike thinking he is a whacko.
Yeah you are correct Matt,
I too did try googling him and except for the usual “group think” forums could not find anything much.
I haven’t seen anything that makes me think he’s a wacko, but was actually really surprised that I could not find where his RC Theory research had been Peer Reviewed and debunked?
Don’t know maybe some else can help us with some links to that kind of stuff.
Mind you you’ll find an ocean of stuff on the web from those that think Hansen is a Whacko (not that I’m going to link to any of that here.)
I’m impressed you are open minded enough to read my counter - vialing GW view.
All I ask people to to actually look at all sides of the issue and make up their own minds.
Its a bit old and trite but -
“The mind is like a parachute - works best when its open.”
Cheers
PLus ask John Howard and he will tell you that being a skeptic was a courageous decision indeed. So courageous it helped boot him out of office, which I believe was Sir Humphrey’s point…
It is a good point from Joyce though.
Yerrrrr ????
I’m not sure that Howard being a Skeptic was why he got thumped….. I personally voted labor for the first time in my Life (Federally) because of work choices / first and last.
We are not America, We have our lifestyle and have always had 4 weeks holiday, Sick Leave, minimum wage etc …. I never want us to end up like the US system where people work for $8 and hour with no entitlements. That is capitalism at its extreme, I just believed Howard was moving Australia to far to the Right and it was time to bring the balance back to the centre.
No doubt Rudd and Labor left there to long will move it back to far to the left and we the Australian Voting public will throw them out and a conservative government will reinstate the balance. - Like Howard did after a decade and a bit under Hawke and Keating.
Just think Kevin is setting himself up the be only the second 1 term Government is Australian history.

Heck even I’d be tempted to vote for Turnbull…
I think with Turnbull in the lower house and Joyce in the Upper house, Rudd is going to have to stay on his toes.
And that is a great thing for Australia. Actually think now we have the best balance of political leaders with ability that we have had for decades. I’m looking forward to the coming months and years.
The last 3 years have taught the Aussie public how important the balance of power in the senate is and I think we (that is all of us) have just about got it spot on this time round. (I have great faith that Collectively the voting Australian public are usually incredibly good at getting it right).
For that reason in my view this is what has made Australia a very successful democracy.
We are very similar to America both sides of government are the same , they do exactly what they are told to do by the IMF , the WTO, the World Bank , other central banks and big corporations and media.
Both sides are extremely pro-Israel and that is what drives both Howard , Rudd and the rest of the Liberals and Labor - they ban mentioning the Palestinians.
What we have in this country is a Totalitarian Fascist Socialist State Dictatorship. AND I’M NOT SURE HOW IT WILL CHANGE BUT IT MUST AND WITHOUT WW3 FOR ISRAEL I HOPE.
Here’s a few ideas from an American about their system and what has to change in the US , though they will probably need a revolution to bring BIG CHANGES :
G’day Von,
I’d like your permission to remove points 1-7 because I can’t believe that you wrote that off the top of your head. Not that you said that you were the author. I’d be happy to link it to a web site that it was on.
It’s just that it takes up so much space here and is not really relevant to what we are discussing. i.e. fixing the American economy. I’m not saying I want to remove you whole comment just points 1-7.
If in fact you did write it I’m totally amazed that you have such an in depth knowledge of the US economy? I’d be willing to wager that it’s come off the Citizens Electoral Council web site.

Thanks Von,
I have included the link. Also admit I lost my wager - It sound so much like the CEC stuff.
Steve,
As Casey states on the SSRC website the RC Theory is just that a theory.
When it is backed by information from other scientists on the various cycle lengths, as shown in the references on the bottom of the front page, it become more credible.
Also with the NASA information on the “solar conveyor belt” explaining sunspots and activity on the sun as shown on this NASA page from the SSRC site:
Shows the message is valid, Matt just had a go at shooting the messenger.
Jeff,
Yep I agree - I read all of the info you refer to and it looked legit. Thats why I published it.
Your comment that it is just a theory, is relevant to the whole GW debate. GW is also just a theory that is challenged by 1,000’s of scientist around the world also. BUT - Kevin Rudd takes Hansen’s version of that theory as gospel. Thats what is so concerning.
The theory that the earth was the centre of the universe existed as a theory until Copernicus (February 19, 1473 – May 24, 1543) came along. But Copernicus had no luck convincing anybody that wasn’t the case.
Galileo pick up the works of Copernicus in the 1600’s but had to recant his finding or be burnt at the stake as a hieratic.
“In 1633 Galileo Galilei was convicted of grave suspicion of heresy for “following the position of Copernicus, which is contrary to the true sense and authority of Holy Scripture,”[27] and was placed under house arrest for the rest of his life.
Indeed it was not until 1835 or just 173 years ago that the Catholic Church acknowledged that the sun was the centre of the universe.
Scientist admit we really don’t know what makes the earth climate change - but change it does.
The GW movement is more about Hollywood and populist movement / politics than a known LAW of science. That is actually why I’m a Skeptic.
There you go everybody - I’ve ‘outed myself’ on why I’m a Skeptic.
Steve,
You see from my perspective the AGW scientists ARE Galileo and Copernicus…. or it is 1850 and everyone now understands that the earth is not the centre of everything… but there are STILL some hangers on within the church who day in day out spout out reasons that the earth IS the centre and the “consensus” is a massive conspiracy…
Matt,
Yes I can see things from your perspective that the AWG’er are perhaps Copernicus, but definitely not Galileo. Galileo had the use of a telescope (which didn’t exist in Copernicus lifetime.) to see with his own eyes what Copernicus had hypothesized.
At the minute AWG is nothing more than a highly disputed hypothesis. So much so that you either ‘take it on faith’ that its happening or you don’t because the science is inconclusive.
Incredible to me that we can even be contemplating an ETS on the basis of questionable hypothesis. As I said in the article - That is Courageous, very courageous? or is it just foolishness?
I guess it all boils down to how “questionable” you think it is. The published science doesn’t think it is questionable… (Galileo), but the establishment (church) will do all it can to buy themselves a few more years…
If the message is valid, then they should surely be able to find themselves a more credible messenger…
Also, I should add, that in this case the messenger seems to have written the message…
And lastly to Von… can I ask how you are coping with the US Govt’s bail out of the finance sector to the tune of many many billions of dollars!!!
I had a vision this morning of many people having to consider waving a big flag with “Von warned us” in the near future. Crazy stuff… the markets and people seem to have lapped it up but it has seriously made me question a lot of my previously held opinions…
” the markets and people seem to have lapped it up but it has seriously made me question a lot of my previously held opinions…”
Gee that’s good Matt, I saw mongrel nazi psychopath George Bush on SBS news tonight saying that the tax payers should get there money back one day. Can you believe it - the evil crooks who did 9/11 are now making the little people pay - WHERE IS THE REVOLUTION AND THE GUILLOTINE !! PEOPLE ARE CRAZY TO LET THEM DO THIS.

Seeing your into skiing forums (see earlier this topic), I thought this may get your juices flowing.
Seems ski resorts are going through extended seasons. Must be Climate Change, because it can’t be Man Made Global Warming - can it?
I think it is just called a good snow season Jeff…
On Tuesday 23 Sept 2008, 12:30 EDT, Eastern US Daylight Time (14hrs behind Eastern Australia Time)
Our time 2:30 AM -24 Sept 2008
NASA is holding a teleconference:
MEDIA ADVISORY : M08-176
NASA To Discuss Conditions On And Surrounding The Sun.
http://tinyurl.com/3hvytx
See this url for links for audio of this teleconference.
It has been stated that it is unusual for NASA to release this information directly to the public.
Additional to above:
Spaceweather.com today reports only the second sunspot (#1001) formation since at least Dec 2007. Small, but at least it is a cycle 24 sunspot.
Correction for above (#1002) comes after (#1001), so second sunspot must be (#1002)
Got excited!!
Ed why do I get the feeling that you think that discoveries about the sun would debunk the science on AGW? IF something happened with the sun that cooled us down a bit, everyone would be bloody happy. If something happened with the sun that cooled us down a lot then at least we know a way to counter it. Of course if something happened with it that cooled us a lot, and science found a way to counteract it that all credible scientists agreed with, I’d fully expect there to be websites plagued with sceptics putting up false interpretations of the science to make it look as though Solar forcing is an international conspiracy to prop up the FIAT monetary system…
Jeff… I have no idea why I just called you Ed… sorry.
Ed,Smed, no worries.
I just want to see what conclusions the NASA panel come up with on this teleconference.
As David Watts (Watt’s up With That-blog) said it is unusual for NASA to do a public access teleconference.
Sceptics? - I’m more interested in the mechanics. I’ve been through a whole rash of radical sceptic rubbish and that’s unbelievable, but then again I’ve also read a lot of what is supposed to be responsible science from “scientists”. Just read the data on Dr James Hansen I’m about to post.
Ahh Hansen is ok. Consensus does not mean that all scientists have identical opinions, or equal ability to convince people, or equal appetite for attention.
But yeah solar issues are interesting and I’m very open to them being a serious player in climate.
Correction for previously mentioned sunspot (#1002)
It doesn’t matter, it’s disappeared. Life of less than 24hrs.
Back to blank.
G’day Jeff,
Sorry have been away last 12 hours - what happened on / with the NSA teleconference?
Hi Steve,
From the NASA website:
Which tells us about the Ulysses space craft.
Not a lot of help on climate.
From David Watt’s “Watt’s Up With That?” blog
Comments such as:
Watts was shut out of participation in conference.
Scientists appeared to be ‘as if sitting on trapdoors’. One slip and your gone.
We’re not climatologists.
Doesn’t make for much hope for anything outside the Hansen/Gore model.
And my Real Player didn’t work either - must check for any upgrades, but it appears to be a waste of time.
While I’m here Steve, have you checked out the entry on ‘Is PM Kevin Rudd another James Hansen Disciple’?
Besides the content linking Hansen to a weird religious/political/vegetarian - Supreme Master etc. I had great trouble posting the link to the Supreme Master site. I tried several times to post “suprememastertv.com” and it ended up in cyberspace, when I put the above thru’ ‘tinyurl,’ I ended up with a url that would post and worked OK.
I don’t like strange, and it’s not your problem, but is there a filter somewhere we don’t know about?
G’day Jeff,
Mate I have not caught up with your posting the link problem yet, but I don’t think its being filtered, I’ve adjusted the server settings so that readers can post 3 links now in a comment without it going to moderation.
Off the top of my head I think this is the answer to the problem you had (although as I said I’ve not checked what you actually did - so it may not)
suprememastertv.com - won’t work
http://www.suprememastertv.com - should work.
Here goes I’ll try. Yep it does - you may have done this and its not the answer at all - but you have to have the full URL including the prefix http://www
Hope that is the answer
Hi Steve,
The above example wasn’t a complete url as I didn’t want any link there, so no (http://www).
The problem I had last night was that when I had finished the correction post for Matt, and press the ‘Add comment’ button to enter, the lot disappeared. No registration, just disappeared.
After trying several times I changed to a computer with another OS (Win2000) and tried. Same problem - then I passed the same url through Tinyurl and came up with a url that worked, then posted it. The resultant post also worked.
Good web site, thanks.. Happy Ramadan for everyone..
Not that it’s important, but I wanted to post this for a grin, something that’s needed these days.

Pictures of a Climate Fraudster, you pick which one is James Hansen.
