Malcolm Turnbull formidable Opposition for Kevin Rudd & Labor

New Federal Liberal party Leader Malcolm Turnbull’s first press conference. This is an impressive narrative.

After losing todays Liberal party Leadership Brendan Nelson should hold his head high.

Calling the snap poll Nelson showed himself to be a true leader. Even though he lost and goes to the back bench he has done the party a tremendous service. Nelson understands what former rock star & current Environment Minister Peter Garrett meant when he sang “Its better to die on your feet - than to live on your knees”.

Nelson’s leadership had been dogged by ongoing speculation that former treasurer Peter Costello would seek the leadership from the backbench. In Aussie bush terms Costello’s lolling about the backbench, destabilizing the Liberal leadership team has been a real ‘dog act’.

As it turns out John Howard knew what he was doing and did the Australian public a huge favour in not standing aside for the ‘patsy’ Costello.

image Malcolm TurnbullAustralian politics just got a whole lot better today with the election of Malcolm Turnbull [pictured] as the new Liberal leader.

The Liberals have elected the best man in the party for the job (more about that in another article).

The Coalition with Turnbull’s intellect, drive, focus and work ethic will give Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and the Labor party a huge reality check in the run up to the next Federal election due in 2010.

Have Your say!

What do you think of Malcolm Turnbull as leader of the opposition?

The Liberal Party…Freedom and fairness…was it fair to together with Labor to demolish the wheat industries single desk, was it fair to remove the regulations which governed the once mighty and dare I suggest fair Dairy industry, is it fair that consumers and producers are crunched by a over monopolised retail industry?

I suppose its one groups interpretation of free and fair?..Free to exercise excessive market power, free to go broke, free for your bank to go broke.

At least he is true to type; I did not hear trickle down or micro economic reform?

What we need to know is how he will make it fair for those who are the weakest in the community, how he will distribute the nations resources, how he will be different to the Libs who governed for the last decade, and lets see if it is really different to the current crop of Labor Liberals.

I wonder would he be prepared to protect his community from the excessed of freedom? or does he believe in unleashing entire systems to free markets.

I think that is what he means.

Yes the Liberal party will sink even further electing pro big buisness big ego sleezebag Turnbull .

He is one of those neo-cons who loves and supports policies to wipe out small farmers and small business . He loves carbon trading and no doubt will support Rudd to push it through.

WE HAVE NO DEMOCRACY ONLY THE BIG BUSINESS / BIG MINING PARTY

Von,

It all comes down to who is paying and who is making profit.

Big Business stands to make millions out of emissions trading, therefore Malcom T would be “silly” not to give it his full support, irrespective of the impact on the rest of the nation.

Besides Malcolm T has been very astute in making money from what could be almost termed clear felling in the Solomons Islands. Has everyone forgotten the company called Axiom who had a licence to “harvest” 330,000 cubic metres of timber when the whole sustainable extraction rate per annum was only 325,000 cubic metres per annum.

In the same breath the Liberals and Nationals locked up most Australian farmers rights to timber, carbon by the covert deft manipulation of the EPBC Act.

So I’m sorry that most voters don’t understand what is going on behind the scenes here. When they do wake up, hopefully we get some politicians who are concerned about Australia rather than their pockets, and their appearances.

If Malcolm goes along with an ETS there are many who know the truth.
