Reg Clairs is the man who ran the Woolworths Supermarket business for a decade (1993-2003) and coined the catch-phrase ‘the fresh food people’.

In a dire warning on tonights ABC TV program 4 Corners warns -

.

“Many smaller suppliers have been squeezed out by global food manufacturers. He says if that trend continues, local food manufacturers will disappear in 10 to 15 years.”

.

Here at Agmates we have been saying that the Australia’s supermarket duopoly is forcing family farmers out of the industry.

Now with it revealed that we export just 22-25% of our farm production with 75% to 78% consumed domestically the strangle hold these two conglomerates have over local producers is echoed by Claris’s warning.

Don’t miss the 4 Corners show tonight.
