S. Kidman’s Iconic Kimberly cattle Stations Ruby Plains and Sturt have failed to attract a bid when put to auction in Darwin yesterday.

Ruby Plains & Sturt are one of northern Australia’s largest linked landholdings with a total area of 795,734ha (1,852,592 acres) was offered with 32,000 head of good quality brahman cattle and an extensive list of station plant & equipment.

Marketing Agent Simon McIntyre of Landmark real estate said:

.

“We put the place up for auction and it was set aside or passed in with a $38 million vendors’ bid. There were no other bids. Since the auction, we have been in negotiation with two parties.

.

S. Kidman has bought the stations for 25 years to breed cattle to supply their channel fattening properties in western QLD.

Kidman’s are selling the stations because the remoteness and distances involve coupled with rising fuel prices and hence transport costs have meant that breeding cattle in the Kimberly and trucking them to QLD to fatten is no longer a viable proposition.
