Description
Jame Mclean and Agmates are offering a copy of “When Blood’s Enough” with all proceeds going
to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
'When Blood’s Enough,’ is a fast-paced and thrilling
adventure from inland Australia. In a time of global financial difficulty and after more
than a decade of drought here at home, one family’s response to these hardships almost
defies description.
Set in the harsh outback interior; a land of vast desert, endless sand hills and boiling
temperatures, is the story of an unforgiving situation that called for a ruthlessness rarely
seen in Australian culture.
After the announcement by one of the major banks that all rural debts would be called in,
Cole Lee from Pegasus station in outback New South Wales refused to comply. The
family had been there too long and worked far too hard, just to be told to gather their
personal effects and leave.
In the sand-laden and rock-covered country that this young man called home, he hatched
a plan to fight back; a scheme of such unimaginable ferocity that they simply could not
afford to fail. With the assistance of his wife Jackie, his brother Benny and five of his
best mates, Cole would set out to kidnap and then hold for ransom the CEO of the bank.
They would travel by night over a thousand kilometers, cross state boarders and brandish
weapons and face masks as they attempt to carry out the mission. A roof top extraction
from an inner city high rise would see a soon-to-be-out-of-work mustering pilot test his
skills one more time.
In yet another act of rebellion and as an enormous diversionary tactic, the leader of the
crew from Pegasus planned to set explosives in a vast inland area. The lives of
almost one thousand workers would be placed at risk and so too the quality of
life for the millions of citizens that relied upon these natural resources. The scale of this
potential disaster would dwarf the attention given to a missing bank executive, yet the
mere possibility of this action sets to tear apart the bond between the members of the
crew.
The men from Pegasus struggle to come to grips with the lengths that their seemingly
fearless leader has and is prepared to go to when he suggests torturing the hostage.
The war of attrition inside the crew rages while the battle to secure a substantial ransom
starts to strain the operation from the outside.
As a final twist to the story and in a gut wrenching blow to Cole Lee himself, his wife
Jackie carries out an act of betrayal that would rival anything done or said by the entire
crew so far. By story's end at least one member of Cole Lee’s crew, who would it be?
From Pegasus station they had traveled so far and done so much, all in the hope that they would get to stay home.

Three days to go folks, this is your chance to help the RFDS. The book is at over $200 at the moment, if it cracks $500... I'll match it, to give us a cool grand to donate. Second to that and just as grand an idea, perhaps all the bidders would be willing to donate the amount they offered for the book along the way. Either way Agamtes, lets make sure we end up with a nice little amount for the RFDS. JMK
Vanessa Gray, 10 Jul 2009:
Hi Jamie, and hi to all that have put in a bid on this auction and those yet to bid. I'd just like to start with a congratulations to all involved - this is such a good cause, I certainly couldn't help myself. Had I won the 90 mil last week on Oz Lotto this book would be mine but alas I've had to come up with something else... Here's my idea. We were all willing to donate what we could afford... so why not break the rules and put our best offer together to make one bid... and of course whoever donates the most should be the proud new owner of Jamie's book?(but I want first dibs on borrowing rights!)? I have never lived in a remote area but certainly visited a few in my time and know that without the RFFS, if cetain things had of happened, I'd have been in dire straits. In this vast country, they must be like gold to some folk. I'm not sure how this idea can be managed, but would like to make certain that those who don't agree or don't wish to contribute be left unnamed. The donation, I believe should be from 'Agmates members', not individuals as such. Please let me know what you think - I would love to help the RFFS and Jamie. If nothing of my idea comes to fruition, I will certainly be phoneing RFFS to make a donation all the same. Thanks Ness
